Over 3,800 students from over 120 schools attended STAND UP New Hampshire at the Whittemore Center in Durham, New Hampshire.

Over 4,800 students from over 160 schools attended STAND UP Massachusetts at the DCU Arena in Worcester, Massachusetts.

Rules

 

-Students must be in middle or high school and be between the ages of 12-19 years of age.

-All lyrics and music must be their own original works. No music sampling will be allowed.

-Submissions must be received by 5:00 PM on Wednesday, November 6, 2013 to be considered.

-You may work in a group or as an individual.

-Artists/writers retain all rights to their songs, lyrics and compositions.

-If you are under the age of 18, you must get parental/guardian approval to participate in the contest.

How do I submit my song?

 

-You can submit your song via the online application or you can download and print out the Ballads v. Bullying Song Contest Application and send it to us via postal mail or email (kari@standuptobullying.org).

 

If  you would like to mail your song or video, please burn your submission to a CD or DVD and mail along with your completed application to:

Frequently Asked Questions

 

Is there an age restriction on the contest?

Students must be students (between the ages of 12-19 years)  in middle or high school to participate

 

What is the deadline to submit my song?

The deadline is Wednesday, November 6, 2013. Submissions received after November 6th will not be considered.

 

What is the grand prize?

The grand prize winner will have their song professionally produced at Bristol Recording and Voice Studios in Boston. The song will also be promoted on the STAND UP New Hampshire 2013 website.

 

Can I sample another artist's music?

The music and lyrics must be your own and original works. You cannot use another artist's music or lyrics.

 

Can I work with a group of people or do I have to work by myself?

You can work in a group or as an individual. If you choose to work in a group, all group members must be middle or high school students.

 

How do I submit my song?

You should go online and complete the registration application here. You can attach your music file (mp3, mp4, aiff) here. If you have the song uploaded on YouTube or FaceBook, please include the link to the video

 

Will I be notified if I win before STAND UP New Hampshire 2013?

You will be notified before STAND UP New Hampshire 2013. All finalists will have the opportunity to perform their song live at STAND UP New Hampshire 2013 where the STAND UP New Hampshire 2013 audience will choose the winner.

 

Who retains the rights to the songs that are submitted?

Writers and artists of the songs retain all rights to their songs, lyrics and compositions.
